Family policies for the school year
What a family asks before the first day, answered in plain words.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, or who is too unwell to join the day, stays home until the next morning. A teacher calls a parent when a child is unwell at school, and the office sends a note home when something is going around.
Drop-off and pickup
Teachers greet each child at the door at 8:15 am and walk children to the pickup line at 3:10 pm. Only the adults on a family's pickup list may collect a child, and anyone new shows ID at the office first.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Families pack lunch and a snack. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll, and each teacher keeps the plan for the children in the room.
Uniform
A green or white polo with dark pants or a skirt, bought from any shop. Closed shoes for the field and the gym. The office has a short list and will answer questions at enrollment.
Phones and devices
Phones stay switched off in backpacks during the school day. Children in the upper grades use school laptops in class for writing and research, with a teacher in the room.
Absences and late arrival
Call or text the office by 8:00 am when a child will be absent or late. Teachers send home what a child missed, and families are asked to plan trips for school breaks when they can.
Closures for weather and holidays
The school closes for the main holidays, including Christmas and Easter, and on days of heavy snow or ice. We tell families by text and email by 6:30 am, and the office phone message is updated too.
Questions about a policy?
The office is glad to talk any of these through.
